Hi.

Welcome to The Meta Planner. For city maps with recommendations, for the anti-tourist.

London: Bermondsey Beer Mile

London: Bermondsey Beer Mile

If you're looking for something different to do in London, and you're into your brew, head south of the river for some Saturday afternoon delight.  These are only open to the public on Saturdays.

The map features a few restaurants, in case you want to line the stomach or have something to soak it up at the end of the day. The choice is yours.

(Of course, you don't have to go to all of them, and I don't condone drinking to an unhealthy extent)

To kick things off, and to leave the food for last, go to South Bermondsey station and walk to Fourpure Brewing and Co., the first point on the map. Just keep following the map points under the railway arches. They've all got their own character and, of course, brews. You'll want to try all of them. Most take cards and also serve snacks. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to not have to rush through it.

Sooner or later, you will reach Maltby Street Market.

From there, there's a few places to grab a bite. Bar Tozino, a cozy tapas bar, is the nearest option. José, another popular tapas destination, is further down on Bermondsey street. You'll probably have to queue. Otherwise, Flour & Grape is a great value Italian with fresh pasta dishes. Last but not least, Padella in London Bridge is one of London's hottest 2017 Italian openings, also serving fresh pasta dishes. No reservations here either, because, well, London.

ALTERNATIVE: Start early, get off at Borough or London Bridge, squeeze in a visit to White Cube Gallery, have lunch at one of the aforementioned places, and follow the Beer Mile towards South Bermondsey station.
